Top PC Titles of 2005

According to The NPD Group, annual 2005 U.S. retail sales of PC game software saw sales figures reach $953 million, a 14 percent decrease compared to the $1.1 billion generated in 2004. PC game software unit sales were down 19 percent for the year, totaling 38 million units vs. 47 million units sold in 2004.

While we have seen retail sales of PC games decrease for several years now, we know from talking to consumers about their online gaming behaviors that playing games on the PC, whether it's via online casual sites or through MMO subscription play, has been increasing,
said Anita Frazier, industry analyst, The NPD Group. The Top 10 PC rankings for 2005 are as follows:

  1. World of Warcraft
  2. The Sims 2: University
  3. The Sims 2
  4. Guild Wars
  5. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
  6. Battlefield 2
  7. The Sims 2 Nightlife
  8. Age Of Empires III
  9. The Sims Deluxe
  10. Call Of Duty 2

This speaks volumes about the IQ of PC Gaming's general population. 3 of the top 10 games sold were of the Sims variety, a title I abolutely LOATHE.

GG to Guild Wars and World of Warcraft for stealing away what's left of the FPS population that isn't playing CS. You bastards.
